About Bolongo Bay

Your perfect tropical getaway in the heart of the Caribbean begins at Bolongo Bay. Located in a cove on the southern coast of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Bolongo Bay is a quintessential family-owned beach resort offering one-of-a-kind experiences for travelers curious to discover the Caribbean as it should be.

Since our opening in 1974, Bolongo Bay has gained a reputation throughout the Caribbean for friendly, personalized service, delicious a-la-carte dining, thrilling water sports activities, live entertainment – as well as one of the Caribbean’s top-rated all-inclusive destinations.

Family History

Originally from Long Island, New York, the Doumeng’s had a long-standing relationship with the sea. So it was no surprise that in December of 1967 while vacationing in Puerto Rico, the Doumeng family took a day trip over to beautiful St. Thomas… and fell in love. They packed their bags and left the states behind to begin life in the Virgin Islands.

In 1974, Dick and Joyce Doumeng purchased a small three-building beachfront accommodation in beautiful Bolongo Bay and over the years grew it into one of the Caribbean’s most exciting resort destinations that have attracted travelers from all around the world. To this day, we’ve been welcoming guests to our slice of paradise like they’re part of the family.

The First All Inclusive

Bolongo Bay Beach Resort was the first resort in the US Virgin Islands to offer all-inclusive in 1989 and we’ve been perfecting it ever since. Our unique approach has earned us several honors and a reputation for being one of the most fun and inclusive plans in the Caribbean, with delicious a la carte dining, premium spirits, incredible sailing excursions and more. We’re currently the only all-inclusive on St. Thomas since the September 2017 hurricanes.

Sailing the Virgin Islands

Ever since Bolongo first opened its doors, we’ve been pioneering new ways to let people discover the beauty of the Virgin Islands at sea. In 1975, just one year after opening, we began sailing guests to St. John National Park and today our 53′ custom-built catamaran, Heavenly Days Catamaran, is the longest consecutively day charter boat in the Virgin Islands.

Whether it’s St. John, shipwreck relocations or swimming with sea turtles, we’ve played a big part in originating some of the island’s most popular day sail excursions.
